For us in Høyre, politics begins with the people who live in Oslo. When we took over from the red-green coalition in 2023, the municipal treasury was on the verge of running empty. Høyre has managed to turn a deficit into a surplus. This secures our economy and welfare, and creates room to implement important initiatives for the city and its residents.
The socialist parties want to return to a city where living in Oslo is as expensive as possible, where people get to keep less of their own money, and where bureaucracy and waste once again take precedence over good services. That is not what Oslo needs. Our city needs more conservative policies. Oslo needs a strong Høyre. We will continue our work to make your everyday life easier, better, and safer.

Høyre’s Core Issues
No to property tax
Having a surplus in your bank account at the end of the month provides both security and freedom. Therefore, a key goal for Høyre is that you should keep more of your own income. Since 2023, we have more than halved the anti-social residential property tax, and it will be reduced further and eventually eliminated completely. If the socialists come to power, the property tax will increase. To us, your house is first and foremost a home, not a tax object. A vote for Høyre is therefore a clear vote against the property tax.
A school where everyone can succeed
A good school is our best tool for leveling social inequalities, and it equips pupils with what they need for further education, studies, and work. Høyre wants a school that prioritizes knowledge first, sets expectations for pupils, and trusts the teachers. Even though many indicators are now pointing in the right direction, Høyre has greater ambitions on behalf of Oslo’s children. We want all pupils to receive an education tailored to them, teachers to have more time for teaching, and our schools to have sound finances.
The «Yes-municipality»
The municipality should be on the side of its residents. Whether you want to build housing, open a store, expand a terrace, or get a permit for a volunteer event. Høyre wants to make it easier and faster to get a «yes» to good projects. That is why we will slim down the bureaucracy, simplify regulations, and remove unnecessary and costly requirements. In Oslo, we will say yes as often as we can, and no only when we must. We cheer for good initiatives!
Freedom of choice in elder care
Freedom of choice is a core value for us in Høyre. People live better when they can make as many of their own choices as possible – and this freedom of choice does not become less important as we age. Quite the opposite. In the city government, we have therefore strengthened the system of free user choice in home care services and opened more nursing homes to competitive tendering. It does not matter where you get help or who provides it, as long as you get the help you need.
A safe upbringing
In Oslo, all children and young people should have a safe upbringing. For several years, youth crime in the city was on the rise. Now the trend has turned, and several indicators are pointing in the right direction. However, this must not become an excuse to rest. Høyre will continue the effort against crime and violence in youth environments. We will prioritize both prevention and the fight against criminal networks and the masterminds who exploit our children. In Oslo, all children and young people should be able to succeed!
